Breakfast
at Tamparuli
Arrival at Tibabar
Met at SIB Likas
church to pray prior to leaving around 7.20 am. Stopped in Tamparuli town
to have breakfast (pyo); also to get last minute items like drinking
water, films or batteries. Also got bread for the trip from Ivy. Left
Tamparuli around 9.30 am.
Stopped at Petronas
Station in Ranau for toilet and to wait for the others to travel as group.
Left Ranau for Poring and subsequently Tibabar around 11 am, with
Paul in the lead.
From Poring onwards,
the road is graveled road all the way to Tibabar.
Although the road is
graveled, some parts are steep and not maintained (overused). The trip
went smoothly. We passed
several SIB churches along the way and the school in Timbua where many
students from Tibabar attend.
We arrived in Tibabar
around 1. pm, where we unloaded some of our things. After lunch which was
prepared by Pastor Duasa’s wife, we were free until 3 pm, so we all went
to the river to swim. Unfortunately, it rained, so the swim was cold, but
refreshing. Paul suffered a large swelling on his forehead when he slipped
and fell on the large rock in the river.
Around 3 pm, we
gathered at the church to pray before leaving for Kg. Daramakan, about 15
minutes drive by car. There we were welcomed by two families who were
waiting for us to minister to them. Pastor Michael led, Paul preached and
Laurentius gave a testimony. Afterward, we left some food items and
clothes to the two families.
We returned to
Tibabar, had dinner and got ready for the ministry service at around 7 pm.
Pastor Duasa made the introductions, Paul prayed, Ronald led, Ivy &
Janice gave their testimonies, Jacquie gave the word using the flip chart
from Gospel Recordings, and everyone ministered and prayed at the end when
people went up for prayer. We also handed to the Pastor all the donations
we brought from KK.
Before going to bed,
the group practiced some more songs for the service in the morning. We
slept in two places: most slept in the bamboo house near the pastor’s
house, a few (Laurentius & Jacquie, Pastor Michael & Johnny) slept
in the old church building.
Everyone woke up fresh and
early on Sunday for the service. Before
the service, everyone prayed for the service, for the testimonies, for the
children’s ministry, for the pastors and for the people in Tibabar.
There were presentations by the children, prayers for the children,
presentation by the adults (with gongs & dancing), the women’s group
and the young people (youth). Ronald then led the worship until the end.
Two testimonies were given – Laurentius & May. Pastor Michael
preached on John 3:1-13, using it as an example about effective prayer,
effective management and proper attitude. When we ask God for something, He knows what we need, but we
have to do our part.
We have to listen to what God has to say and then do it, with
faith.
Ivy, Jacquie &
Janice ministered to the children in another location: there were as many
children as there were adults. After the sermon, came the alter call which
saw almost the entire church going up for prayer.
The service ended about 11.30 am.
We had lunch prepared by
Pastor Duasa’s wife. We left around 1 pm. Laurentius’ car had a burst
steering pump hose & melted turbo hose. However, managed to drive the
car back to KK without any problem. We all stopped at the Petronas
Station, Ranau for a good cup of coffee before leaving for home. Arrived
KK around 5.30 pm.
